Lately I’ve been helping out with the programming schedule of this newly re-opened gallery in Tribeca. I was asked to curate a group exhibition this November. I did, it’s called SPACE JAM, and it’s opening next week!!
This will be a group exhibition themed on 2-dimensional works coming out into 3-dimensional space. The artists will explore when drawings, paintings, prints, and collage begin to break away from the walls and become installations.
Each artist was asked to create an explorative environment using traditionally flat and dimensionless media. All works are site-specific installations that challenge the artists’ conventions of two dimensional work, spanning from minimalist drawing to audience interactive pieces.
Artists Include:
Yo Fukui
Yasemin Kackar-Demirel
Dina Kelberman
Andrea Loefke
Scott Meyers
Devin Powers
Alan Resnick
Ryan Syrell
Curated by Aimee Lusty
Union Gallery
359 Broadway
New York, NY
Opening Reception for the Artists: Friday, November 13 from 6 - 10 pm.
Musics and wines, all the artists will be there.
All work is site-specific and mostly will be constructed during installation week, but here is a sneak peek to one of the finished video pieces in the exhibition.
